Durbin says WI recall sends message either way

Illinois' Democratic U-S Senator says the push to recall Wisconsin's governor offers a cautionary tale for politicians who want to take on labor unions. Republican Governor Scott Walker is facing a recall election Tuesday. Walker helped pass controversial legislation that stripped some collective bargaining rights from most state workers. Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says, even if Walker wins, there's a lesson to be learned.

Governor Walker has said the bill restricting collective bargaining is necessary to help balance the state's budget. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, a Democrat, is running against Walker in the recall election.
