Military officials have honored 12 Illinois soldiers who were killed in the past year in a Memorial Day wreath-laying dedication. The event took place Monday morning at the General John A. Logan Monument in Chicago's Grant Park. Military officials have added the dozen names and photos to ``Illinois Faces of the Fallen Soldiers.'' The event was being conducted by representatives of each branch of the armed services, Gold Star Families and Daughters of the American Revolution. Military officials say 243 soldiers from Illinois have died since the beginning of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and have earned a spot of honor on the list.
