Republican state representative Dan Brady of Bloomington is praising the Medicaid reform package passed by the state legislature. Brady says as painful as it is, change needed to happen.
The legislation now goes to the Governor. Brady says it also calls for close examination of who is on Medicaid rolls. He says 300,000 ineligible people could be purged from the program. State Representative Keith Sommer of Morton also voted for the package. State Representative Bill Mitchell voted against the legislation. Mitchell says he respects the hard work many colleagues put into the measure, but can't support it because it allows some illegal immigrants to receive benefits while some citizens will lose support.
