The Community Cancer Center has a tall order, to raise $2.5 to $3.5 million this summer and early fall. That's what Director Barb Nathan believes would be necessary to break ground on the proposed $10 million expansion. But, Nathan also says the climate in medical philanthropy is not bad even with a fragile economy.
Nathan says the center is not yet ready for the public phase of that fundraising effort. When that stage arrives, she says, the Center anticipates a broader donor base than usual in such campaigns. She says the center has treated thousands of patients over its 13 year history and many have already asked about donating.
