The State of Illinois says it may not have time to accurately score bids for employee insurance coverage by Health Alliance Medical Plans and Coventry Healthcare. So in an effort to avoid last year's widespread uncertainty by state employees in central Illinois, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services has lined up emergency three month contracts with Health Alliance and Coventry. The new coverage year starts July first. The state says if the bids are not chosen, workers with those plans would have a new enrollment period. In McLean County, a coverage map provided by the agency shows Health Alliance and Coventry are the only managed care options that have provider networks. If the state does not retain them, patients might be forced to go to neighboring counties for a managed care option or choose a different type of plan. The current enrollment period ends in mid June.
