IL House honors late ISU President Lloyd Watkins

IL House honors late ISU President Lloyd Watkins The Illinois House of Representatives has mourned the passing of former ISU President Lloyd Watkins, who died March 1st. The House presented Watkins' widow, Kay and his son Bob with a copy of a resolution remembering Lloyd Watkins' accomplishments during his term at ISU from 1977 to 1988. Bloomington Republican State Representative Dan Brady also spoke.

   

Lloyd Watkins is remembered for presiding over the creation of Redbird Arena and steering ISU through tough economic times in the early 80s. He's also known for ending the popular campus quad music festival known as "Rites of Spring."
