A spokeswoman says Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will immediately approve legislation to bail out a program that subsidizes child care for working parents. The Senate has voted without opposition to free up $73.6 million to cover costs for the Department of Human Services program. It is out of money with nearly two months left in the fiscal year. Lawmakers shuffled money in the state budget from other sources to make up the difference. Officials say without immediate action, agencies that provide community or in-home day care for children of parents who work, go to school or job training might have to close. Legislators also used the bill to move $151 million into paying down a Medicaid health care program bill backlog.
