The Bloomington-based financial collection firm AFNI says it is expanding to the Philippines. AFNI plans to open a call center in Manila in the second half of the year. The company recently closed a call center in Peoria and laid off several hundred people, but, AFNI Marketing Director Lori Boyce says the two things are not related.
Sources say most of AFNI's existing clients have a domestic business. Boyce says only that the overseas operation will allow AFNI to court new businesses that have an international component. She says it may even open some doors and qualify AFNI for more domestic business as well with companies that have both components to their business. Boyce says the company expects the expansion to be employment neutral for Bloomington-Normal.
