A bipartisan minority of six on the Mclean County Board has failed to stop pay raises for the Coroner, Recorder of Deeds, Auditor, and Circuit Clerk. Susan Shafer was among those making the argument those salaries grew much faster than the rate of inflation in the 1990s.

Chuck Erickson has a an even more strict standard to approve any salary increase.

Supporters noted there will be no raises for those office holders over the next three years and a one and a half percent raise in the fourth year. Jim Soeldner is one such.

The total budgetary impact across the four positions would be about $5,600 per year.
