ISU is switching security firms at a cost increase. The firm G-Four-S had been unlocking and locking campus facilities, generally patrolling, and offering safe-walks to students to free up sworn police officers for more rigorous work. But, Trustees Chair Michael McCuskey says the problem was the company wasn't paying their workers the required 12 dollars an hour.

The new three year contract with Securitas is a $33,000 a year increase over the $500,000 previous annual amount for a total expense of $1.6 million.
