At least 23,000 people would like to see an apology from Bishop Daniel Jenky, head of the Peoria Diocese. That's the number of people who signed an on-line petition. Jenky used a recent homily to blast President Barack Obama, and urge people to vote for politicians who adhere to Catholic dictates. Jenky also warned parishioners Obama was headed down the same path as Joseph Stalin and Adolph Hitler in his attitude toward the Catholic Church. Yesterday four Peoria area Catholics presented the on-line petition from the group Faithful America urging the apology. The petition also urges the Bishop to "refrain from using such hateful rhetoric in the future."
