Illinois U-S Senator Dick Durbin says he has no doubt Senator Mark Kirk will return to the Senate. Kirk is still recovering from a stroke he suffered in January. Durbin says he talked his Republican counterpart on the phone about two weeks ago. He says Kirk is making terrific progress and the two even joked a bit. Durbin responded to criticism that Kirk has yet to be seen publicly.
Durbin says there are no detectable problems with Kirk's speech. Kirk's doctors at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago this week released the first photo of the senator since his stroke. Durbin says he misses Kirk, but he wasn't sure exactly when Kirk could be back to work.
