Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White recognized Heartland Community College for its efforts in promoting organ and tissue donation. The college has committed to hold a donor drive on campus to register more than 100 people. White spoke at Heartland this afternoon saying that anyone can be a hero by becoming a donor.

April is National Donate Life Month. More than 113,000 people nationwide are on the transplant waiting list. In Illinois, more than five million people have signed up to be donors, but nearly 300 people in the state die each year waiting for a transplant.
