A poll conducted for Democratic Congressional Candidate David Gill shows him with leads of seven and eleven percent over two possible Republican Challengers. But, neither of those candidates in the 13th district have substantial name recognition. And Political Scientist Erik Rankin of Illinois State University says to have David Gill at 40% does not mean the Bloomington physician is in a strong position...
"I mean the numbers are better for people that know him, but it still shows that there's a pretty high level of skepticism, I mean you'd think those numbers would be much higher."
Rankin says Gill has to mend fences with those who supported his opponent in a divisive primary. GOP leaders will choose a replacement on the ballot for retiring Congressman Tim Johnson next month.
