After an ESPN report said 71-year-old Larry Brown had agreed to become SMU's head coach, sources confirmed Illinois State coach Tim Jankovich is close to finalizing a deal to become SMU's "coach in waiting." The source expects Jankovich will be offered between $800,000 and $1 million per year to be an assistant before taking over as head coach when Brown decides to retire. Jankovich made a little more than $400,000 at Illinois State.
