The McLean County Board is the first of several county governing boards to approve an expansion of the rural transportation program SHOW BUS to Macon County. Administrator Bill Wasson says as rural populations age the need is growing.
The Board also agreed to expand SHOW BUS service hours in DeWitt, Livingston, Iroqouis , and Kankakee Counties. Wasson says as service expands and becomes more regional, there may be a time in the future when the service area grows large enough that efficiencies based on size may erode and the program could become more costly. SHOW BUS is funded mainly through state and federal grants with only a small fee component. Additional grant money will fund the expansion to Macon County.
