A kerfuffle over appointments to the McLean County Ethics Commission has stimulated interest in the position. County Board members balked recently at appointing the Democratic and Republican County Party chairs to a panel handling complaints about violations of the state gift ban act. County Board Chair Matt Sorenson says he suggested the move because he couldn't find people willing to serve. Since the splash of publicity, Sorenson says he's received three applications and more than a dozen other inquiries. This prompted a tongue in cheek response about the county's many other vacancies....

Sorenson says he's sending out information packets about the Ethics Commission duties and will vette the applicants for appointments next month.
