An Illinois House candidate who lost a Democratic primary election last month by 125 votes is seeking a recount. Former web journalist Will Guzzardi announced Monday he filed for a discovery recount in his loss to Rep. Toni Berrios. The Chicago Board of Elections will conduct the recount Thursday. The Chicago-based House district had 7,917 votes cast in the March 20 primary. Berrios had 50.8 percent to 49.2 percent for Guzzardi. An election board spokesman says the process allows recounting votes in 25 percent of a district's precincts -- 21 of 84 precincts in this case. Guzzardi says he will focus on precincts where ``we heard reports of inconsistencies.'' Berrios was elected to the House in 2002. She is the daughter of Cook County Assessor Joe Berrios.
