Home sales in Bloomington-Normal continue to gain on last year's pace. The Association of Realtors says through the first quarter, sales are up by 21% over last year. The increase for March is less than that for the first two months of the year, but the 167 homes and condos sold also reflect a traditional seasonal increase that tends to come with spring weather. Sales of new homes are actually down slightly for the quarter. March results are better than in several recent years except for 2010 when a federal incentive program was in place. Average prices for homes are up only slightly at $167,000 for the quarter.
