New Mitsubishi electric cars are now trickling into Bloomington-Normal as the company ramps up distribution nationwide. Ryan Graymore, the General Manager of the Mitsubishi dealership in Normal says eight have been delivered in addition to the six bought by the Town of Normal. He says there's also significant showroom traffic sparked by new owners.
Graymore says some people have come back to the dealership to mention they've been showing off their new electric vehicles at dinner parties. He says there were 22 pre-orders, another two orders, and two vehicles bought off the lot. He says another five vehicles will be delivered to new owners this week. The community E-V Town goal is to have a thousand electric vehicles on the road in the twin cities in the first year of "I" car sales. Auto industry analysts say fewer than 17,000 electric vehicles sold in the U-S last year among all brands. This year's sales forecast is above 45,000electric cars. Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Volkswagen are all introducing new electric models in the second half of the year.
