An Illinois House committee considering the expulsion of a Chicago lawmaker accused of bribery has postponed the meeting due to the ``possibility of further court action in the criminal proceeding,'' according to a recent letter by the group's leaders. The committee investigating state Rep. Derrick Smith, a Democrat, was set to meet in the coming days but decided to delay it until the Illinois House returns to Springfield later this month. The letter said it would allow for more time to review and respond to any additional information that may emerge.
