The recession caused the town of Normal to drop its Harmon Arts Grant program following the 2009 awards. Now, assistant city manager Sally Heffernan says the awards are back.
Heffernan says this year's awards will go in part to programs that help underserved demographics.
Heffernan says need will be a deciding factor in the award determination.
The total grant amount has been increased from $25,000 to $35,000 with the maximum individual award increasing from $3,500 to $5,000. Heffernan says dozens of organizations have applied for awards annually in the past. The deadline to enter is May 11 with winning entries being announced in June.
