Governor Pat Quinn has announced more than $12 million worth of road construction for the Peoria area during a stop at an asphalt conference in East Peoria. The largest chunk of that money will go to widening Illinois Route 8 in Washington, Illinois this summer. There will be two lanes in both directions for more than a mile of that road. It will also finalize plans for replacement of a railroad viaduct over Route 29 in Chillicothe. The money is coming from the Jobs Now capital program.
