Plans to build a new Marriott Hotel in downtown Peoria, and renovate the venerable Pere Marquette are moving forward, after legal documents filed with the city came in a day before a deadline. Peoria city manager Patrick Ulrich says everything appears in order. The city council, after a number of delays, imposed a deadline of 5 O'clock this afternoon. EM properties, headed by developer Gary Mathews, plan a complete renovation of the Pere Marquette, a new Marriott next door, with a skyway linking them to the Civic Center. The city's obligation includes $32 Million from bond sales, and a $7 Million loan to the developers. Construction could begin before May first.
