ISU Education Dean to become Provost at Central Missouri

Illinois State University's Education College Dean will step up to a new job in Missouri at the end of May. Deborah Curtis Will become provost of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg after her retirement from ISU. Curtis has spent 26 years at ISU, the last seven as Dean. Under her watch, ISU's graduate program in education improved by 20 slots this year in U.S. News and World Report rankings. Endowments have grown to $15 million for the College of Education. She has increased emphasis on special education teaching and on preparing majors to return to Chicago and teach in schools there as part of the Chicago Pipeline project. ISU is mounting a national search to replace Curtis.
