Sales of existing homes in Bloomington-Normal were at their highest February levels this year since the housing bubble burst in 2008. According to figures from the twin cities realtors association, the 109 resales in February were the most since the 117 resales in 2008. Tom Jones, assocation President-elect, says sales of existing homes has realtors excited.
Jones says there are exterior pressures continuing to push the new construction market down. Overall there was a 36% increase in units sold last month compared to February a year ago. The average price climbed 6% to $173,000. Jones says the mild weather deserves alot of credit for an early start to the home-buying season.
