Unit Five school district administrators caution not everything will be ironed out by Tuesday when the former Chiddix Junior High students start attending new schools. Unit Five is closing Chiddix for the rest of the school year because of asbestos. Superintendent Gary Niehaus says he hopes the new routine will be set by the time the Junior High students head for spring break. And he says more communication with parents is coming.
ISAT testing schedules have been re-arranged for the second week of the state mandated window to allow students to settle into their new environment. Track is the only sport left for the spring. Niehaus says practices can still happen at Chiddix because that is a central bus point. Students will not be able to enter the building, though.
