The Bloomington-Normal Public Transit System is buying some buses to help alleviate over-crowding and to maintenance pressures. The Connect Transit Board of Trustees approved buying eight used buses for $83,000. General Manager Andrew Johnson says the buses have 300,000 miles on them, but they're a good purchase.
Johnson says the additional vehicles will show up in the next 90 days. The buses are expected run on the Illinois State University shuttle route and the Green A route, which, Johnson says, are typically overcrowded because of increased ridership during peak hours.
