A Bloomington woman has received a four-year prison sentence for neglecting an elderly family member.

Prosecutors say sixty-year-old Doreen Rodgers had her housing, expenses, and a monthly allowance paid for by the older man.In June, the man fell and the State's Attorney's office says she left him on the floor for about a week in their shared residence before calling for help.

When paramedics arrived, prosecutors say the man was unresponsive except to pain, had severe injuries related to neglect, and insects crawling on his body.

Paramedics notified PATH, which has an investigations unit for elder abuse and neglect. That led to charges.
