Western Avenue Community Center Announces Cuts

Western Avenue Community Center

The Western Avenue Community Center is cutting back its hours and trying to boost the number of volunteers it has.

In a news release, the center says come traditional funding sources have diminished and they want to be efficient with staff time.

Starting in January the food pantry at Western Avenue will cut back to 11-2 on Tuesdays. There will be no more Thursday food pantry service.

The Hispanic outreach program is shifting its emphasis to employment outreach and diminishing its case management service. Case management will happen only on Fridays by appointment.

The community center is also starting a "Share the Love Saturday" to encourage volunteers to clean, paint, and repair the inside of the center on February 18th.
