A Libertarian from Bloomington has announced plans to run for the McLean County Board.
Steve Suess will run for the McLean County Board’s District 8, which includes parts of Bloomington, including downtown and the city’s west side. The District 8 seat that’s up for election in 2018 is currently held by Democrat Paul Segobiano, who plans to run for re-election.
Suess works at Illinois State University and recently bought a home on Bloomington’s west side. He ran unsuccessfully for a Normal Township trustee position in spring 2017.
“I’m running to bring change to the county board. I’d like to see the residents of McLean County, both inside and outside of my district, to have a louder voice in county government,” Suess said in a statement Monday.
Suess said his primary goal will be to increase public participation and access to information in county government.
