VenuWorks may manage the U.S. Cellular Coliseum for up to 5 years if a contract is approved by Bloomington Aldermen Monday. The company entered into a 90 day agreement with the city in April in an effort to make sure VenuWorks was a good fit.

Speaking on GLT's Sound Ideas in March, Mayor Tari Renner said that the new management company will be an improvement from the one that was in place at the venue for 10 years.

"Their philosphy is a total experience," he said,  "From the moment that you park, to the moment you come into your ticket line, to the moment you buy your food, and the quality of the food, the price of the food, the act, and they're very, very customer friendly."

Renner said the new company will be better for the city.

"Venuworks is just like a breath of fresh air. They're going to be open and transparent," he said.

City officials will have the option to end the contract after 3 years if the company doesn't meet the needs of the venue.

The council will also vote on changing the city code to allow people to turn their hobbies, such as microbrewing, into a business by creating an "artisanal/craft production and retail" zoning category.
