UPDATED 1:50 p.m. | A missing Bloomington woman who vanished on her way to a family gathering on Christmas has been found safe, police said Wednesday.

Carmon Edwards, 53, walked into an Illinois State Police station in Pesotum, between Champaign and Mattoon, around midday Wednesday, Bloomington Police said. Edwards arrived with a good Samaritan and appears to be in good health, police said. Her car was found earlier Wednesday in Mattoon—130 miles and in the opposite direction of her intended Christmas Day destination in Tazewell County.

Edwards, who may be suffering from a recent cognitive decline, had been missing since Monday.

“Thank you to those who shared this story on social media,” Bloomington police said in a statement on its Facebook page. “We were able to reach over 800,000 people.”
