Unit 5 School Board President Jim Hayek will resign from his position at the end of May.
Hayek works for State Farm and will transfer to Phoenix, Arizona. He said he is ready for a new adventure.
"It's going to be hard to leave Unit 5 behind. I had wanted to wait until my son graduated and that would have coincided with me rolling off the board naturally," Hayek said. "But the timing is just right now for that move, and me and my family are excited."
Hayek said he has enjoyed working alongside Superintendent Mark Daniel to set up a strategic plan that provides a quality future for students in Unit 5.
Hayek has been on the school board for three years. His colleagues chose him as president last year.
