The Town of Normal has a happy surprise on its insurance premiums. Council members Monday will decide whether to approve a premium package 13 percent below last year's rates.
Staff said relatively fewer claims were filed for fewer dollars last year than for the rest of the municipalities in the risk pool the town uses to bundle insurance coverage.
The town had projected an 8 percent increase, but the actual result saves about $315,000. The bill for insurance will be close to $1.4 million.
