Supporters Cheer On Mitsubishi Workers

As the sun sets on production at the Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing in Normal, supporters of the workers gathered to demonstrate their gratitude in a community recognition event. Jeff Woodard of the McLean County Museum of History was among them.

Woodard put in over 15 years at the plant, leaving in 2005. He says the people with whom he worked, and the job, stay with him. Most workers have been there for two decades or longer. About 150 people attended the send off. The last car rolled off the assembly line on Tuesday. Some workers will continue for a while longer, clearing out the plant and packaging equipment for shipment to Japan.
