Education funding and the state budget standoff continue intertwined with public events designed to ratchet up pressure on opposing sides. Governor Bruce Rauner recently visited Normal West High School to ratchet up public pressure on Democrats. There are two conflicting school funding proposals, one from Republicans who want an evidence based model to allocate funding based on best practices.
The other from Democratic Senator Andy Manar reworks the school funding funding formula using property tax base and tghe poverty of students as measures. That would substantially reduce funding for Unit Five.
WGLT's Charlie Schlenker talks with Unit Five Superintendent Mark Daniel about what he told Governor Rauner relating to the funding picture.
