Hundreds of middle class jobs exited the Bloomington Normal community with the end of production at the Mitsubishi plant in Normal and in announced Caterpillar layoffs. That could be expected to become apparent in student enrollment, the rate at which students switch schools, and even the number of free and reduced lunch applications.
