Over the next couple of weeks, 100-Million Americans plan on traveling, and 90% of them will do so in a car or truck. Beth Mosher  of the Triple A motor club says even in Illinois, a state with plenty of air and rail travel options, most prefer traveling in an automobile."The road is always going to be the most popular option. Particularly this year because gas prices are low, but we also have to factor in the convenience for families who want to get in their car and go visit family and friends."

Mosher says only 47-Million traveled over the Thanksgiving weekend, but notes the comparison is not valid because Christmas is longer. She says gasoline prices have declined much faster than other traveling costs, like lodging and meals on the road, have increased.
