Normally, police officers and firefighters work side by side to help keep the community safe. But on Saturday, "Guns" and "Hoses" competed against each other for a good cause.
The Bloomington Fire Department and multiple Central Illinois police departments faced off in a charity hockey game at Grossinger Motors Arena that raised money for Special Olympics Illinois. Residents and family from Central Illinois turned out to cheer for their favorite first responder.

Organizations from all over Bloomington-Normal donated items to be raffled off as another way to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois. This event often raises thousands of dollars, making it one of the largest Special Olympics fundraisers in the state.
While the fire department beat the police 11-6, both teams were proud of the turnout and the success of the event. The final amount raised by the event has yet to be announced.
