Peoria Riverfront Museum Welcomes One-Millionth Visitor

PEORIA RIVERFRONT MUSEUM
The Peoria Riverfront Museum.

The Peoria Riverfront Museum welcomed its one-millionth visitor—a YWCA McLean County employee.

Vicki Hightower, who works as senior director of adult services at the YWCA, visited the museum with her family July 1 to see the “Mythic Creatures” exhibit.

Hightower said being the museum’s one-millionth guest was an honor and the “icing on the cake” of her visit.

“I knew the ‘Mythic Creatures’ exhibition was coming last fall and we have a big family of seven, so I bought a membership before the holidays,” said Hightower. “We had a chance to get the family together Sunday and came to see the exhibit, but I did not see this coming. We love the museum.”

The Peoria museum plans to celebrate its one-millionth visitor at a free party, open to the public, on Friday, July 6.

The museum opened to the public in 2012 and reported a total of 1,000,771 visitors as of Tuesday afternoon.

Additional information about the party and the museum can be found on its website.
