Vice President Mike Pence will make a stop in Springfield this week, raising money for incumbent U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis.
The event will be a luncheon Friday at Panther Creek Country Club, according to the Sangamon County Republican Party. Pence has been traveling the country to help GOP candidates.
Davis, a Taylorville Republican, is locked in what is expected to be a tight race against Democrat Betsy Dirksen Londrigan in the 13th Congressional District. A poll released this week by Democrats indicates the contest is a dead heat.
The sprawling 13th District includes parts or all of 14 counties and several college towns, stretching from the western half of Bloomington-Normal all the way south to Edwardsville.
