A senior softball player at Normal West high school has died from her injuries sustained in a car crash this week, authorities said Thursday.

Olivia Sonetz, 17, was westbound on Raab Road on Tuesday night when a pickup truck allegedly blew a stoplight near U.S. 150 and Mitsubishi Motorway and collided with her car. Sonetz, who was wearing her seatbelt, was transferred to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria in critical condition. She was pronounced dead Wednesday night, said Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.

The driver of the pickup, Mitchel Mohr, 23, of Bloomington, was cited for allegedly speeding, disobeying a traffic control device, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and failure to wear seatbelt, Illinois State Police said in a statement.
