Champaign Urbana will get a new Portillo's restaurant before the one in Normal opens.
The Chicago area chain has announced a new location in Champaign which will open next spring.
The one in Normal will take until late in the year to open because a motel needs to be torn down before construction on the restaurant begins.
Portillo's said it is also considering locations in Peoria, Indianapolis, and Moline.
The chain operates more than 40 restaurants in the Chicago area and others in Wisconsin, Indiana, California, Florida, and Arizona.
