Twin Cities teacher Brenda Huber told her story of the conception and birth of her son.

The Fourth of July holiday is all about mom and apple pie, as well as the nation's founding. Here is a different story of motherhood.

Brenda Huber took part in a Next To Normal story slam at Nightshop in Bloomington earlier this year.

Huber agreed to offer her experience of motherhood to GLT. She conceived with the help of a sperm donor as her religiously conservative family expressed unease with her choice.

Another Next to Normal story slam will happen Friday, July 27, at 8:30 p.m. at the McLean County Arts Center.
