National Register Of Historic Places Adds Normal Landmark

Town of Normal

Van Leer's Broadview Mansion in Normal has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. The property has been owned by the Immanuel Bible Foundation since 1949.

Board President David Strand said they've been working the keep up with the site since then.

"The Immanual Bible Foundation Board has, for years, been attempting to maintain and preserve the Broadview Mansion property, and this is a very significant step toward enabling us to accomplish that objective," he said.

In 2014, the Town of Normal agreed to financially support the organization's efforts. Strand said having Broadview Mansion on the National Register helps them accomplish their goals.

"This designation will enable us to apply for grants, work with the Town of Normal so that we can address whatever needs occur," he said.

The site was designated as a Historic Landmark by the Town of Normal last year. It is currently used for music, the arts, social events, and tours.
