A man is dead after he drowned in the Illinois River Tuesday near the Fulton County community of Liverpool and the Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge.
Fulton County deputies, Fulton County Ambulance, Buckheart Fire/Rescue, the Copperas Creek Dive Team, and Mason County ESDA responded to the river just after 2 p.m. on a report of a man in the water.
The man's body was found near where he went in the water. He was pronounced dead by Fulton County Coroner Steve Hines just before 7:30 p.m.
The man's name is being withheld pending family notification. No foul play is suspected.
