Former Illinois State shortstop Owen Miller has been drafted in the third round by the San Diego Padres.

Illinois State's Owen Miller has become one of the baseball program's highest draft picks in recent memory.

The junior shortstop has been selected in the third round of the Major League Baseball Draft, taken by the San Diego Padres.

Miller broke ISU's single-season record for hits last season with 88 and was a First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection.

Miller becomes the third-highest ISU draft choice since 1969 behind only Neal Cotts and Dave Bergman who both were selected in the second round.
