Photographer Rana Young is currently showing her work at the University Galleries in Uptown Normal. "The Rug's Topography" navigates intimacy and separation in the face of transitions.
- The show's title was inspired by a line from a song off the album "Fantastic Planet" from the band Failure. According to Young, the album is heavily rooted in transition.
- The artist says she's personally and artistically dealing with transition. Her former partner's transition from male to female looms large in her photos.
- Curator Kendra Paitz says the show helps address the issues of those in the LGBTQ community and their allies.
- The show is on view until April 1.
