After a string of under performing women's basketball seasons, Illinois State University is turning to a former player of legendary North Carolina Coach Kay Yow to turn the program around.
ISU will introduce Kristen Gillespie as its 8th women's head basketball coach Tuesday afternoon.Gillespie is currently the head coach at Chicago suburban Lewis University and coached at Benedictine before that.
She also has experience as a recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Gillespie was hired at Lewis University two years ago and was at Division three Benedictine for four years. She was a star player and captain at North Carolina.
ISU finished with a losing 8-23 record this last year.
